Announcement: New 2 Service Format Launching March 5th
God has been so good to this church. 4 years ago there were about 20 of us meeting and now each week hundreds of people meet here and call HighView their church home. God has blessed HighView Church from the very beginning with exponential growth. Over the last 12 months we have seen more new members, more baptisms and more professions of faith than at any time in HighView history! Most importantly, 100% of those newly baptized converts are being discipled in a healthy local church. In addition, attendance at our weekly gatherings is up 50% from this time last year alone. God has truly blessed us in amazing ways. With God's blessings comes great responsibility. The challenge is always: How will we respond to God's blessings as a church? As many of you know full well, God has sent more people to HighView than our current facility can reasonably facilitate. The elders began asking the question: How can we responsibility continue to “make room to make disciples” here at HighView on Sunday mornings? We began "making room" early last year when we made alterations to the sanctuary, specifically the stage reduction project which allowed us to add almost 30% more seating in the sanctuary. This solution bought us more time but in a matter of weeks those seats were filled weekly. We've recently added an overflow room with a live video feed but the additional extra load has created parking challenges and general space challenges each week! So here is where we are in early 2017. Growth has continued exponentially but capacity for future growth has decreased dramatically. There is simply no room for evangelistic growth in our corporate worship service. With that said, we are excited to announce the beginning of a new exciting era of Gospel-growth for HighView Church, as beginning March 5th we will launch a NEW 2 Service Format! The new format will feature a 9:30am service and an identical 11:15am service! There are 2 big reasons we are committing ourselves to this new format...
HighView is a VERY young church plant. Though we are in so many ways very advanced as a church plant we are still a VERY young church with very limited resources. Quite simply, while simply building a bigger building would be ideal and keep us in a one service format, it would be financially very unwise to take on the necessary debt to build and would greatly hinder our ability to do ministry. I can proudly say that as of this morning, HV is 100% debt free! This gives us maximum ability to make disciples as a church and we want to keep this flexibility for as long as possible. A 2 service format is a way for us to maximize the use of this building multiple times each Sunday and therefore maximize this resource God has given us! The second reason for this new format is simple:
HighView's mission is to make disciples that make disciples. We want to engage non-Christians in our circles of influence, we want to develop ourselves and fellow Christians as deep disciples of Jesus and we want to deploy every member every Sunday to take Gospel mission wherever God has placed them. This 2 service format will allow us to do that! Let me summarize it this way: We must: Make Room to Make Disciples! This new format will free up new space for the lost and non-Christian in our community here at HighView. We will open space to the hurting and the lonely, it will open space to those who desire to find a Gospel-centered local church in West GA Now, we know you all have a HOST of questions and our elders, and leaders will be available over the coming weeks to address those concerns in detail. Is a service format ideal? No, its not. Hence our delay in moving to it. Are there some NEW challenges that this will introduce? Yes. Will each member have to sacrifice and be willing to part with preferences for the sake of Kingdom Mission? Yes. But will it be worth it? We believe it will be because ultimately mission is not something we do FOR God. Mission is something GOD does for GOD. We believe one day a future generation of HV members will look back at this time as a time when a group of people put Kingdom mission ahead of personal preference and faith in Christ's purpose ahead of their fear of change. Someone will hear the Gospel, someone will come to know Jesus, someone will be disciple. Someone will find a healthy local church because we were willing to do sacrifice and step out in our pursuit of Kingdom mission and that someone is reason enough. Here is our mission and here is our promise:
Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Jesus has called us and He goes with us. So lets go... Pastor Chad
